What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is over 2,500 years old.  It is practised all over the world, but has its roots in the East. There are over 3 million practitioners' worldwide and currently over 3,000 Acupuncturists in the UK who are members of the British Acupuncture Council.

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine needles into precise points along the channels of the body which lie under the skin, stimulating the body's own healing responses to restore health.

In good health the body’s Qi or energy, moves smoothly throughout the body.  If the channels in the body become blocked then the Qi no longer moves smoothly and illness can follow. Acupuncture helps to clear blockages, expel disease and resort smooth flow of Qi – promoting good health.

Acupuncture treatment focuses on the whole person, not just the symptoms presented.
